I know this is an old post but have been thinking about going back to riding recently. Used to do cross country but fractured my spine years ago (18 years actually... ). Started again about 3 years ago and came off again and ended up with a rotated pelvis which still rotates. I'm a qualfied Pilates instructor so can generally sort it out myself.
Thinking about starting riding again but not sure if I should just accept I'm obviously not very good at it! Bit nervous about coming off again!

I love to ride. I've been riding for about 3 or 4 years. One time I was riding and you know, I couldn't do anything except walk without my ankle hurting really bad. Eventually I figured the problem was that my stirrup was too short. LOL. At the beginning it felt like the stirrups were the right length but they weren't. I'll never make that mistake again

Glad to hear eveyone is getting back in the saddle after a break. I lost my confidence about 2 years ago after my last youngster threw me and I hurt my hip. I did not stop riding but I did stop enjoying it which was a shame coz when I think about it it was just a one off compared to all the good times I had of years of riding.

Isn't it great to be back in the saddle after a break. I have been riding regularly (hacking out) for the past 3mths after a break of approx 6yrs. On sun i did some schooling on the flat-aarrrggghhhh aching like mad today!!!plus after 20mins of transitions and circles i was pooped!!

I've recently started riding again after losing my nerve big time, had to start from scratch at a riding centre I was so scared - first lesson hurt like hell, second one not much at all and the third one nothing! Keep at it, it's worth it Annette

I just started riding again last night - haven't ridden for five years!! I'd actually forgotten how fun it was and everything came right back as soon as I got on pretty much, but this morning my legs and bum REALLY hurt, so much so that I couldn't even do any agility with Connie . Anyway, what I wanted to ask was how many lessons do you think it will take before it stops hurting? I do fencing so my legs are pretty stretchable, but obviousely not as much as I thought! Rachel
