Yeah, they are pretty big. Heavy too. We've had a sad week rat wise. We lost Orbit on 17th, he was about 23 months, and being a pet shop boy - he'd been showing his age for a while so it wasn't a surprise - he's now with his two old cage mates (Cheech and Chong) up there at the rat cage in the sky. He leaves his super fit and energetic brother Angel behind, sadly in a cage on his own as he's too old to intro to the others. Silva went in to have a tumour removed this morning, sadly they couldn't control the bleeding, and she died shortly after coming round from the anaesthetic. She was so happy and healthy this morning (bar the lump - size of a bean so still in the early stages). Being a platinum, they're a little more likely to have bleeding problems, and she had had bleeding issues in the past. I wish now we'd not gone ahead with it.

Ha ha - dont worry about that, my parents dont like them either (luckily they live in France). The snails are all babies - fully grown their shells will range from 10cm (Sam and Cooper's species, Gary and Sally at a push if they ever start growing) to 15cm (Monty). Our two new arrivals will be already around 12-14cm, and the two baby tiger snails we might be getting in the spring can grow up to 30cm in shell size (although in captivity that's very unlikely, probably 15-20cm). Bear in mind their bodies can be as long as their shells. They're all moving into my 4ft fish tank in a couple of days, as soon as the fish move out (we got a new tank today). Oh yes, I forgot, we have tropical fish too!
