Title: Britain's National Breed? Post by: aurelius_victor on September 18, 2003, 05:52: AM A 1943 AKC Gazette colum stated, "In short, the Bulldog's character is very similar to that of the British people - courageous, loyal, stalwart, and somewhat understated." The column's anonymous author goes on to ponder, "If the British had not long ago seen in the Bulldog this same ability to 'hand it out' and 'take it' would they have permitted him for so long to be used as a symbol of their nation?" As this is a '.uk' site, what are your thoughts, both from the U.K., and around the world?
