Title: our puppy bites my son Post by: lovedup on October 08, 2004, 02:46: PM it may be that your puppy sees your son as his peer and therefore tries to encourage him to play by nipping him, like when you see dogs and puppies playfighting all the time. you can tell the puppy off (using body language alone) when he nips you, but as you say your son does not understand, so your puppy things it is ok to pursue this game.
he will eventually grow out of it, but of course that does not help your son in the meantime. you could try physically moving your son, with mininal fuss every time your puppy goes to do this. your puppy should eventually get bored with this and avert his attentions elsewhere. every time he averts his attention, give him a ridiculous amount of praise and love and treats! i'm not a trainer or anything, so please do not see my advice as anything more that that, but it worked for me in a similar situation. hope that helps. barbara Title: our puppy bites my son Post by: seddie on October 21, 2004, 05:22: PM http://www.jersey.net/~mountaindog/berner1/bitestop.htm
