We had a terrible fright last night. I was out in the garden with Tyson for about 20 mins doing some obedience commands and some lead work ready for when he is allowed to go out for walks.

He came in and laid down in the living room. 10 mins later my partner called him and he was shaking, and could not get up on his feet.

I called the emergency vet who informed me to give him some water and to call back in 15 mins. I gave him some water and he got up slowly and started to stumble around before falling back to the floor.

I called the vet back, who advised me to bring him down to the emergency vet. When we got there, the vet gave him a pain killer injection and took his temperature which was really high. At first it was thought he could of had a fit.

Anyway we took him home, and he was ok and slept through the night and in the morning seemed a lot better and ate his breakfast.

I have just come back from the vets now, and it seems that he may now have a bacterial infection which we have been given antibiotics for.

So fingers crossed he should be ok now!  :shock:

oh that sounds horrible, I hope the antibiotics work.

it is so shocking when something happens, makes you feel out of control.
We took lottie for a walk recently, she went bounding along a cattle grid and fell through the bars, when my partner picked her out her back leg was completely limp! she wasnt even trying to hold it up!. my heart skip a douzen beats!
needless to say, within 5mins she was bounding about like nothing had happened

Awww, poor Tyson :sad:, i hope he gets better really soon.

Poor Tyson, Thats awful!...Hope the antibiotics work....Give him a big hug from us :-P

Just to let you know, this morning he is back to his usual happy self, although drinking a lot and still quite sleepy (but I suppose that could be an affect of the antibiotics).  :D

Tyson is about 6 months yeah? i would say he may be going through a growth spurt too or perhaps the training sessions are over extending him, he still needs lots of sleep, my boy at 7 months barely gets 2 5 minute walks a day and a little run in the garden. Why isnt Tyson allowed on walks?

I would make sure he is getting enough sleep and be careful with his exercise and joints and make sure he is getting a good diet as 6 months is quite a growth stage.

Glad he is doing better.

Tyson was 20 weeks old on Sunday just gone, so he is around about 5 months old. We aquired him at 17 weeks old, and the breeder had not had him vacinated, and he has his second jab the weekend before last, and as the vet said wait 2 weeks before we take him out, that 2 weeks is not up until this weekend.

He is getting enough sleep and I am just about to change his diet to give him something more nutritious.

Tell me about it! I took him to the vets yesterday and he weighed in at 26.55KG!! When we got him 4 weeks ago he weighed 23KG  :shock:

My DDB averaged 2 kilos at a time i think last time he weighed in at 8 stone and under 7 months, will be weighing in in another week.
