2  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / General Dog Chat / Britain is NOT a nation of animal lovers on: August 10, 2006, 12:36: AM
I didnt see the programme but the amount of animal abuse stories in the press at the moment are sickening.  In one addition of my local paper last week there were 2 stories!  Its just awful what people do to animals and get away with.  Crying or Very sad

Ooooh, I saw this advertised in Your Dog-looks like it would have been a fantastic couple of days.  Unfortunately I have no transport, so can't do fun doggy things like that.
Looking forward to Discover Dogs in November tho Very Happy
4  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Diet / Gusto? on: August 10, 2006, 12:13: AM
Ellie absolutely loves this stuff.  She had her 6 monthly MOT at the vets a couple of weeks a go and she's in perfect health and has even lost 1kg of her excess baggage  Very Happy
Brilliant food!  She's so fit and healthy and her fur is lovely.

5  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Diet / Gusto? on: July 04, 2006, 03:22: PM
I got a bag of this for Ellie, cost me £5.50 for a 10kg bag.  She absolutely loves it!
I checked the ingredients and nutritional info against her normal food, Beta, and I have to say that it is much better!  And 4% less protein, which is what I bought it for in the first place.  Brilliant stuff!   Very Happy

Hey guys!
Yet more questions from me  Embarassed
Has anyone fed their dogs on Gusto?  It's a working dog food, and has no VAT.  So only £5-ish for 10kg.  Ive been recommended this for Ellie as the food she is on at the moment is very high in protein (25%) and we think this could be contributing to her problems.
I trust the person a lot who has told me about Gusto, but I cannot find any nutritional info anywhere

If anyone can help, that would be great!!!

7  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Complimentary And Alternative Health / Nux Vomica? on: June 27, 2006, 11:56: AM
Hey guys!
I have been recommended Nux Vomica for my dog at a dose of 30x.  This is due to her getting overexcited, tireless barking at other dogs, and occasional aggression.
Does this sound right?  And how often should I give it?

8  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Canine Health Concerns / vets fees on: June 27, 2006, 11:51: AM
I think a consultation fee at my vets is around £22.  Although my dogs are on the VIP plan thingy, so I very rarely pay for consults because I get 2 free a year for each dog
9  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Canine Health Concerns / Dog with Hayfever? on: June 27, 2006, 11:43: AM
Thanks Jet.  I think so too  Smile   My sister saw the dog yesterday and he said his eyes and skin were red raw  Sad   Poor little thing.

I have slightly calmed down.  5 hours was enough barking for me today.
Ellie was constantly barking at poor Bo for almost the whole 5 hours!  We did have a very quiet 30 mins when I had Jack and Ellie on the couch with me and Bo was on his bed-next to the couch.  But everytime he moved she started barking again.  In the end I just gave up!
Ive been recommended a diff type of muzzle that should help stop her barking and some homeopathic treatments to help calm her down.  Fingers crossed eh?!!!
11  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Canine Health Concerns / Dog with Hayfever? on: June 26, 2006, 06:15: PM
Hey there!
My friends dog has developed terrible hayfever.  His eyes are very red and sore, and he's chewing the fur of his paws and chest.
Is there anything that can be done for him?  Can dogs take human anti-histamines???

I am so stressed right now. Im actually physically shaking    Sad
I just dont know what to do about the dogs. I had them all together from 1:30 until 6 and Ellie was constantly barking all through that time. I know what she is doing is perfectly natural, but its driving me insane and the neighbours are complaining. Ive spoken to the neighbours and explained the situation! Bo (the greyhound) is also being nosey when he is left alone. Just now I was gone for less than 5 minutes and he started to bark and howl and scratch at the door. I know he's not used to being in a house environment, or on his own. But Im really struggling to cope now.
I dont know what to do     Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad

Ellie is fear agressive.  They weren't muzzled at one point and got into a fight.  Ellie had a go at the new dog and he ripped a chunk of her fur out.  I dont feel safe having them un-muzzled until they have accepted each other.

I'm really nervous about asking for help, as I know Im not exactly in the right. But here goes:
I've rehomed a retired Greyhound on a week long trial. I know now is not the right time, with Ellie, but Im friends with a guy from the Retired Greyhound Trust and he asked if I could help. The dog was on 'death row', but he is a perfectly healthy and sweet natured dog.
So, I got him on Thursday. Ive been working slowly on introducing him and Ellie (he gets on fine with my other dog, Jack). We've walked them together around the local park and walked them home together. But as soon as we're home Ellie starts barking at him again. Im assuming this is due to the house being her territory? I bought a Baskerville muzzle for her yesterday, and the greyhound has his own. So I muzzled them both (Ellie doesnt mind the muzzle at all) and walked them round the park again. They were walking perfectly well, side by side. But again once I got home she continued barking at him. But its not aggressive!!! The crazy dog is still wagging her tail but barking at him
Can you offer me any advice at all? Am I doing all this right?
I hope you can help.

Im really sorry to hear that your little pooch had to undergo surgery.
My 2 have been very lucky and have never had anything major happen to them-touch wood!
Hope you both get some well deserved rest and Barney feels better asap.
