Thank you. Unfortunately I only have super slow dial-up internet Thats the thing with Ellie though. I rehomed her at 14 weeks and I socialised her very well. On buses, trains, in cars, with friends and their dogs, friends houses, training classes......but she has always been the way she has Love her to bits, but it can be very frustrating Yup, we do have a park fairly close by and some woods if we fancy a bit of a hike.

The one Im looking at is from Argos and it is quite tall. Much bigger than a baby gate. I spoke to the Greyhound man again on Wednesday and he has said once he's found a dog for us he will meet us somewhere close to my home. Let the dogs meet and walk together and then walk them home-so the new dog doesnt suddenly 'appear'. But the gate is a back up plan, because I know she wont settle straight away. Thanks for all ure help and listening to me moan Rachel

The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Breed Specific / Basset hound with selective hearing!!!!!

Hi there! Ive never actually owned a Basset before, but my Mum has had quite a few. She says that once a Basset decides he's doing something, he will! And selective hearing is definately a Basset thing. Erm, I know how you feel with the recall going great at home but once you get out into the big wide world all the training falls out of the dogs head. What I find works though, is instead of running after him-run away! He will no doubt realise that you are getting further away and come after you. Works 99% of the time Good luck! Xxx

I have been thinking......How effective do you think a dog gate would be? I was thinking of putting it in between the kitchen door and the living room so that the new dog and Ellie will be able to see each other, but not actually get each other?
We have 2 doors that go into the garden too-one in the kitchen and one in the living room-so no problem with garden access either.
What do you think??? Anyone??? Kelly.Xxx

Eeeep, I remember watching this and ended up shouting at the TV My little Jack used to be quite overweight (Im not telling you how much though ) But I went to the vets with him and he was put on a diet and now he is a very healthy, for his age, 18 year old. He has early onset heart failure, so is on meds now. But I dread to think what would have happened if he hadn't been put on a diet!!! What do these people think they're doing to their animals?! And the owner of the poor Rottie should be done for abuse....poor thing

Eeep, its not nice when we have to think about all the creepy crawlies. With you being outside maybe it was just something that was passing by and just happened to bump into your dog? Try not to worry too much. Like Dogmad said, if she's regularly wormed and de-flead you shouldn't really have much to worry about.

Hey all! What has everyone been up to this bank holiday weekend? On Saturday I did pretty much bugger all. Yesterday my step Dad came round to visit and we had a lovely veggie bolognese and watched King Kong. And today me and Mum cleaned and tidied under the stairs and the cloakroom cupboard. When we get our new doggy he's going to have the HUGE space under the stairs as his own little crash pad Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. Kelly.Xxx

Hey guys! I would really like to start doing some basic agility with Ellie at home. She is fear aggressive and I wouldnt want to put her or me through the stress of going to classes. Does anyone own any home agility kits or know of any good starter kits on sale?
