1  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Dog Behaviour and Training Issues / What is the best collar????? on: September 17, 2006, 07:17: PM
Hello Everyone

I’m looking for peoples opinion on what you think the best sort of dog collar as are dog pulls like mad on the lead especially if she another dog or cat you cant control her she dose know a lot of basic commands but when she is outside she is very stubbed and doesn’t listen to me  at the moment we just have the regular sort of collar we have tried the halti it didn’t really work and made her bald on her snout we have also tried a choke chain but again it doesn’t seem to matter to her that she is being choked and im afraid it may really hurt her! I would be really grateful to anyone with any ideas.

Hello

I’ve seen this behaviour before on a program with a Jack Russell  when his owner went out to work he would do his business in the hallway everyday without fail the dog had anxiety issues  and the way they got around it was walking the dog 3 times a day a really good walk make a nice cosy space where he could sleep and is his own,  and the big thing that worked was they recorded the owners voice on tape and played it when the owner went out it worked a treat and the first time they tried it.
  hope that helps Very Happy

Hello

When we first got are dog she had a problem with children she would bark and growl when out on walks. The trick is to do things slowly we have a lot of children in are family so we introduced bit by bit with my brother age 6 playing ball and throwing food gown to her and it worked!

As for your doggy issues it may sound mad but I was watching a program where a dog had a phobia of beards and they got the women owner to dress up as a man as the dog loved and obeyed the women it did work so you could try that lol
As for the barking try ignoring him and walking him out of a room and letting him out again when he has stopped and keep doing it till he get the point also try not to make eye contact

Oh and for food aggression the say to try and feed bye hand

Hope that makes sense and helps you a bit xxxx
