Canyx, after following this thread I think (and hope) that you are being a little bit over-anxious about the possibility of Soro having HD. After all, you haven't said that you have noticed any symptoms that caused you to worry, such as an abnormal gait or obvious pain or discomfort in the hips, and from what you say it doesn't seem that you have been over-exercising him.
I wouldn't consider it necessary to have a dog's hips scored at all unless you intend to breed from it, or unless and until it does show signs of pain or discomfort. There is a considerable amount of manipulation of the joints involved in the process of taking the x-rays, which is why GA or heavy sedation is necessary, and I would not have that done without good reason.
Smokeybear, I am wondering why you queried the use of the expressions 'mild' and 'one-sided' in relation to HD. One of my labs was diagnosed with a mild degree of HD, as compared to moderate or severe, and although in her case it was bilateral I believe that sometimes only one hip is dysplastic.
