Smokeybear Denis I am surprised you are interested. I did not believe seminars were your thing? According to one of the other forums you are on? Or should I rephrase that and say no one is interested in attending one given by you?! DenisWhat you really mean is my not admirer the UK Dogtra retailer in actual fact I am amazed he had so little support, he went Ape when I supported Tri Tronics collars and tried to compromise me, the site is full of his mates. Instead, I knew more about the collars he is selling, pointed out all the flaws with that make, he denied them and then fell flat on his face I stared my own poll on his sales practices and I got more support, quite a bit more support then he got against me on his denis seminar poll I think it took everyone by surprise when he asked me for my credentials and then I gave the link to my new site as Dograukextrainer (bottom link) for reasons unknown his own site suddenly went offline one things for sure this internet thing can be a very strange place. OK as every regular on this board knows all attempts to ban e-collars have all failed and that part of the e-collar saga is over.
What I want the majority of the sensible posters on here to understand is exactly what has been won and move that forward to things I think now need to be looked at.
The UK current government policy is that every pet owner has the freedom and right to learn about, to use if desired and to buy any e-collar they wish, the attempted ban was about removing those rights by attempting to get, mainly, pet owners to vote against their own right ever to learn about or use one forever, the fight was about that and that alone.
OK, most regulars know some superficial information that I was the UK specialist trainer on the DEFRA consultations on e-collars in 2002 my position then and now was to preserve my right as a priority and by its nature that preserved every ones right, because the concentration was on those fundamental rights other things had to put aside until now and those things are what this post is about and more important this post is request from the majority of rational members to give your thoughts.
I am not happy to have e-collars freely on sale by any Tom, Hooker, and Jack Ogden who want to make a few quick quid.I think its beneficial to dogs and their owners that minimum standards must be conformed to by retailers. There is no need for people wishing to take part in this post and poll to have much knowledge about e-collars, I have made the poll because I know of weak points in the retail industry, I want them filled, possibly in law.
The voting points I have put up are weak points I know of which exist in the unrestricted freedom to trade by anyone who wishes, as things are there have been no problems with e-collars despite the intense scrutiny they have come under but is a growing, expanding market, I want to see it modeled on the US system where there is a video/dvd which can be understood by the average pet owner and almost invariably full telephone support.
A licensing system for retailers would make them conform to the standards and requirements laid down by government, I have left out should retailers offer training facilities it would never happen and the fact that there as not been one single verifiable problem in the ten years attempted, late, ban clearly gives ample evidence that there are no problems, but, with an expanding market restrictions on who is or is not allowed to sell e-collars ensures high standards are maintained.
Finally and to regulars, firstly dont try to understand why I have asked the questions I have, they are simply weak points which I know exist and I would like to se closed we all know of the disruptive element who try to sidetrack e-posts so if anyone who is not already a member at the date and time of posting starts to post > even if they sound friendly < OK, there you go, have your say.

Freddun We seem to have cured alfie's bad behaviour Hi freddun, there is one thing missing in what your doing, just before you deliver either stim (noise, water-whatever) you say "no", that should have been started at the begining but it does not matter you can still start if he does what you do not want him to do immediatly deliver the stim which you know works( water, noise whatever) - you will find that within 3 repetitions of giving him a stim he does not like he will respond to the word "no" or given standard household rules to live by - effectively once the word is functional you have an instant stim (the word) which you can deliver on time every time rather than the clumsy fumbling about for bottles and water sprays etc - the problem might be that he is conditioned to the sight of the stims (bottles, water spray etc) if he does not see them he might ignore you - try it anyway. Around 99% of what pet owners are told are " behavioural problems" are for no other reason than the dog is not trained to words such as "no" - of course its not a " behavioural problem", it's normal behaviour over which an owner has no control - so if you ' buy' into the words ' behavioural problem' (crap sales talk thats all) a quick fix £100 ' behavioural' visit occurs, your £100 lighter and the dogs no different after a day or so. good luck. Just one final point about your title, you have not " cured" anything, you have simply laid down the rules of the house, " cure" would mean something was wrong with the dog, there was nothing wrong he simply did not have a set of rules for living harmoniously within the families rules for a harmonious household, so, before you were living under his rules, now he is living under yours as you yourselves have to do.
