meet the ENGLISH WIRED RETRIEVER the origin of the breed the english wired retriever was first bought in to the uk in 2007 by a miss bryony smith, who gave to k9media as a gift. it then later became a big hit in the uk and the breed spread to the us in 2009 when it was introduced at crufts. the breed came from years of crossing six breeds untill it reach where it is today.
it started off as a Italian spinone cross standard poodle to which a dog with a good bone but with a very light and firm movement with a strong like of water and gun-work, then it was later breed with a blood hound and Canaan Dog which is when the breed really came in to its own with a grate want to do gun-work but with having such good ability for scent work, it was cabable of many tasks. there are also lots of references of adding the blood lines of the standard schnauzer and the Portuguese water-dog which added a waterproof and the wiry coat we see today. the last recorded bloodline added to this wonderful breed was the Labrador retriever which added so much to the end breed such as a loving and loyal dog with a good body and brain for working in the field.
