Blue - sounds like your dog has separation anxiety. my dog is also like this and i can't leave her at all..... luckily at the moment i don't work so can take her out with me..... sorry can't be of more help....having probs getting round it myself!!
HI everyone sorry I didnt get back sooner with my problem. It is now better, much better. I only work 5 hrs a day 4 days a week, and he gets a lot of running when I get home, and in the morning before I go. I trained him to stay at the door when I go out, and he knows if he is coming as I then say ok. Anyway, the main thing is not stressing him out, being calm when I leave, and leaving toys and biskits, and the radio on. (talk radio seems to be best). When I came home to a mess, I didnt say anything (he knew it was wrong)and just cleaned it up, trying the think the dog's way, he probably did it thinking at the same time he knew it was wrong and stressing out about it the same time. Now, he is fine. Everything takes time when it comes to training. Thanks everyone for the help!

Hi Louise

I also have a Bulmastif (Mea) who has just turned one I Think the breed is so sweet for hte size of them.

I also have a 10 wek old Staff x called Razor he is a real bundle of fun.

Just out of interest how lively is you mastiff when at home mine seem depressed as just sleeps or lies down (sometimes this is a good thing)

Look forward to speaking again

I have a bullmastiff that is crossed with some anonymous type of terrier, got him from a shelter-so will never know what type of terrier. He was 2 yrs old (got him last year) and was NEVER trained, so you can imagine trying to start on him. I have read on bullmastiff sites that they can be content with not as much excercise, hence probably the laying around when at home, but yes they love to run around when they are out. Am getting better on the training, however my dog is very very strong, and has occassionally lurched forward on his leash big time - caught me off guard last weekend, and I went down on the sidewalk for the ride, scraping my hands and knees - no moment of inattention while walking him! As soon as I feel him lurching, wondering if anyone has any advice what I should do immediately? Grab his collar and pull him back and a firm "no?" Or stop, or what? Can't afford for this to happen again, as it really hurt.
3  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Canine Health Concerns / Re: Diarrhoea on: February 10, 2007, 06:54: PM
I only noticed the blood this morning - she is happy in herself and is bouncing about as normal.  I have given her an antibiotic to see what happens.  If it doesn't subside I will take her to the vet!

Thankx for all the advice
my dog had diarhhea for several days and a couple of times he also threw up his food. I took my dog to the vet and what it was, was his anal glands were full. The vet emptied it, takes a couple of minutes and he is now fine. His stool was also mucous-y like you had said. If this is what it is, it won't go away until the glands are emptied. It may not be that, but giving you ideas of what it could be. My last dog that had diarhhea, the vet said to give non-chewable pepto bismol tablets (he was 25 lbs, 1/4 tablet)so measure that accordingly, but you don't want to make a habit of medication. Also refrain food for a day or two, then gradually some boiled chicken and rice. (bland food).

i give him bones, toys and walk him for an hour before i leave. I try to be calm when I leave and when I get home, I see a mess and he is guilty right away. I have only had him for 8 months and he is good otherwise. I heard that you should not stress him out and do anything, just clean it up. What should I do?
