1  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Controversial / Re: Leaving a dog at home when working full time on: February 02, 2007, 10:15: PM
Im faced with the same problem will be working (hopefully part -time) whilst training to be a dog trainer/behaviourist and ill be getting a puppy to look after aswell and my boyfriend  Rolling Eyes

Saying that though,  My current dog stays at home all day from 8 til 3 and gets to see me and mum for half hour at lunch - she has the run of the garden, her kennel and run of the carport which can easily fit 2 cars so she is fine  Very Happy

But i dont know what circumstances ill be in when i live with my boyfriend. Shocked

Fingers crossed eh?!

Want to know what im in for  Mr. Green Mr. Green

Smokeybear, Id just like to point out again that it is my friend who doesnt like the breed, not me.  I haven't met one (close up) to get to know it.  Her friend was biten in the face by one when she was 10 so thats why she doesnt like them.  I said it was just the way dogs were brought up that lead them into getting misunderstood.

I cant really say anything to her about the breed as a only have 'facts' and not experience.

Id just like to also point out that she is also scared of most other dogs, except her Nans Setter.

Just wanted to show her all the nice things people write on here about staffies and anything else about dogs to convince her otherwise but all i got was sarcasm.  ??:   Sad
10  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / General Dog Chat / a good staffie? on: January 30, 2007, 12:55: PM
Hi,

Not come into contact with a staffie before  ??: but my friend thinks they are all badly behaved dangerous dogs.  Ive heard alot of bad incidents involving staffies but i do not believe they are 'bad' dogs.  Please can anyone back this up??

12  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / General Dog Chat / The Kong Toy on: January 29, 2007, 09:48: PM
I bought my dog the Kong years ago - still here - even my labrador's jaws have not worn the Kong down.  Laughing

But what about the kong filler stuff (tastes like chicken etc) is this really worth the £5 price tag? what wrong with a few dog biscuits and some pieces of bread squashed in?  Keeps Tasha amused for hours !

and the Rag/tug toys - Old towel anyone? save your money for the possible vet bills!

In Accessorize i saw a bumble-bee dog outfit - what poor dog will have to put up with that?  Its £12 id rather spend on a new pair of Wellies !

Whos with me?!

FOR THE DOGS !  Smile Smile Smile

15  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Dog Behaviour and Training Issues / Struggling to train puppy to lie down-HELP ! on: January 29, 2007, 08:34: PM
Hi,

I am currently training my BF's sisters King Charles Cavalier (4 months old).  Only started to teach her today as Amy (BF's Sis) hasn't had much look and unfortunately does try overally hard - but thats another story.

Started today and Angel (puppy) picked the come, sit and stay commands up really easily  Very Happy

But lying down is a problem - she is very excitable and i would appreciate some advice (kind methods only,  Smile, I know i shouldn't have to say it but id rather )

Thanks

Sarah
