Well I was soooooooooo confused by the first post  LOL  Laughing So you've cleared it up for me,thank you  Very Happy
Just had a look at your web site and your dogs look gorgeous  Very Happy
Thank you very much!  I should put up some pics on their of my brother in laws chololate Lab playing with my girls.  They are so nice to her, lol.  She bites the hell out of my dogs, and they never put their teeth on her, just tackle her and throw her around like a rag doll.  But that lab does not give up!  She tires out my dogs!  So much for the high energy APBT, lol.  Of course, if they're among their own kind, it's a much different story.....they do not like any APBT outside their own "pack".  Have to be very careful about that at the shows........
2  The DogChat.co.uk Discussion Forum / Topical / Re: Pitbull attack - are they bringing Lurchers into this now? on: February 13, 2007, 06:42: PM
I would imagine lurchers got in their cos people are stupid and one got charged under the DDA the other week i think it was on it's three strikes and you are out kind of thing and got pts.

Pardon my ignorance of the English language, I am an American afterall lol, but what exactly is a lurcher?  Also, is there re3ally a 3 strikes rule for manbiters?  I think a dog should be pts the first time it bites, and the owner should be disciplined in some way as well.

Petey was an APBT.  At the time there was a shift in the breeding purpose of these dogs.  Two camps were formed, the show people, and those who wanted to continue with the original purpose of these dogs.  This is not to say that none were used for both.  The AKC refused to recognize a dog bred for bloodsport, and because of the competetive nature of the sport, many breeders refused to make their breeding programs public.  In the eyes of the AKC, they could not be sure the dogs were pure bred without scrutinizing pedigrees.  So, a new breed was founded, The Staffordshire Terrier.  Later that name would be changed when the AKC recognized the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, hence the American Staffordshire Terrier.  Back then, you could register an APBT as an Am Staff with AKC.  That is no longer permitted, however, an AKC Am Staff can be registered as an APBT with the UKC, ADBA, and AADR.  I hope my rambling helped clear that up for someone, lol.

Is good long term memory a sign of intelligence? My cocker scopes leftovers on the dining table by standing on the back of the sofa. We can take her for a walk and when we get back she still remembers exacty where to try and get her face onto the table.
My oldest APBT is like that.  She can lose a chew toy or bone under the couch and it can be there for hours, even days.  When she decides she wants that particular one again, she will sit right in front of the couch (or whatever it ended up underneath) and cry and paw at it until we retrieve it for her.  She will also put a bone down somewhere on our way out for the day, and when we come back the first thing she'll do is go right for it.  I am definitely biased, but I think my APBT's are most certainly some of the smartest dogs I've ever owned.  And they have all done just as well as the Border Collies and GSD's that they've been in obedience classes with.

Hi everyone.  I found my way here following links about BSL stories.  I started reading some things in here and decided to join up.  I figure if I can learn just how it is that BSL has gotten so out of control in your part of the world, it will help me to better combat it over here.  It is getting pretty bad here, especially as an owner of American Pit Bull terriers....so much for the land of the free.  Anyhow, that was my quick lil intro, now I need to delve into this site a bit...............
