I think there is usually a reason for a dog to behave like that, maybe it is his smell. My Dog behaves like yours when the plumber and neighbours son visit. it turns out they both smoke dope and it sends my dog crazy. He also doesnt like the smell of antiseptic hospital hand wash as when I came home from hospital he was very wary until i washed my hands and has been the same with other people that have used antiseptic. Maybe your uncles aftershave or something else particular to him and not his wife upsets your dog. Have you tried them meeting on neutral ground with the dog on the lead? he mite be happier if its not on his territory. good luck with it xx

My dog and cat are both insured with petplan, for £23 a month. I  have found them very helpful when you need to claim,(all i do is sign a form vets do the rest) i have had £500 back so far this year coz cat hurt its tail. Its worth looking at excess fees some really cheap insurance ask you to pay the first £150. I think that its important to check that any illness that develops is covered for life and not just for one year. also with dogs check the third party liability coz if your dog bites someone or causes a car accident you can be taken to court, pet plan cover  up to 2 million pounds on my policy hope this helps xx (I have claimed more than i have paid so far so i def think it is worth it, it also gives such peace of mind, i wld hate to have to make a decision about my pets health based on what i could afford xx

My dog prefers cat food but its because their is more protein in it. it is more fattening than dog food and my vet says if they eat alot of it it can cause kidney problems. We made the cat a high rise feeding station to stop the dog and it has worked. I would give the dog a window of time say 10 mins and if he hasnt eaten the food by then then remove it and offer it to him in a few hours. My dog is a fussy dog I give him good quality food and the vet says a fussy dog isnt a hungary dog, and that he wld eat anything if he was hungary. I think they learn to hold out, like children at grannies. xx

When we rescued our dog we came across the same. Certain rescue organisations wld only let you have a dog if you worked less than 2 hrs a day- i think this is ridiculous, there are always times when you need to leave your dog, i can spend 2 hrs in tescos. I only worked 5 hours a day twice a week and yet i wldnt be considered. Now i work from home but i still leave our dog on his own at least once a week for a couple of hours as I think it is less stressful for a dog if he is used to being on his own. Also encountered problems about where we live, we live in a house with a large enclosed garden at the back but the front is alongside a main road. we have a gate between our house and road but one organisation said the road was too dangerous-fair enough if you are resucing a cat but a dog shouldnt be loose anyway. Moan over lol we found the bluecross to be very fair, they listened to us and give us a chance, i will be eternally grateful to them for that as i am now the proud 'mum' of a fantastic dog xx

He is a medium (24kg) sized proper cross. he was a stray from ireland that the blue cross rescued. He has a bit of everything, we were told he was a doberman x but i think he is more collie/german sheppard. he is black tan and white. when we got  him  he was nervous of strangers but since we have had him he has grown into a confident dog. i work from home so he isnt left on his own and he has a good sized garden with unlimited access. im trying the dap diffuser on advice of the vet but he is still shivering. i will try n upload a pic, not very good with this computer malarky xx

Hi I wondered if anyone else had ever had a dog that shivered? I've seen the vet who says he is fine but my dog (a 3 year old cross neutered male who we rescued as a year old) has started shivering as if he is cold, but i cant see that he is as he lives indoors and i dont think its cold. i am pregnant at the mo so wondered if this is worrying him but we have kept to his routine of 3 walks a day and same mealtimes. he seems to do it even if your out of the room so i dont think it is just for attention.  any ideas would be appreciatied. x
