Hi. My daughter has a 10 week old Shar Pei, who has had the first of his two vaccinations. The vet said she should keep him away from dogs she didn't know. She took this to mean make sure he didn't come into actual contact with any dogs, and they took him out with them (on a picnic in a park of all places

, where he spent most of the time asleep under a pram!)
Now I've read that they can pick up infections just from being on pavements or grass where a strange dog may have urinated or defecated and I'm worried he may be at risk.
(She's not as irresonsible as she may sound - she actually asked the vet if the puppy could pick anything up through his paws if she let him out in the garden, as foxes visited and she was worried he might catch something from them, and the vet smiled and said he's be fine, so she assumed he'd be OK providing she kept him away from actual contact with other dogs.)
I realise no-one can know if an infected dog had actually been anywhere the puppy had been, but how much at risk is he still likely to be considering he's had the first of his two jabs. Should she get the vet to look him over?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
