I have two favs (not surprisingly!)  Laughing

The German Shepherd - one of the most versatile working dogs we have.  They are used as herding dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, guide dogs, army dogs, protection dogs, security dogs ... the list is almost endless.

The Border Collie - one of the truest and least touched working dogs there is in this country (and probably the world) today.  There is no better livestock dog than a border collie.  Their great intelligence can also be adapted for use as sniffer dogs for the police and search and rescue dogs on the mountains and hillsides of the UK.

What about the Komondor?! (they are considered working on the AKC, though Pastoral in the UK KC)

No obsession here Smile

My fav. working dog is the Caucasian Ovcharka. It is a flock guardian from southern Russia. Big, strong, alert. Only problem is they don't adapt well to the heat, BUMMER!!!

I'm in Australia and I gotta say that the Australian working dogs are a breed apart (literally!).  Blue Heelers, Kelpies and my personal favorite - the Koolie!

We had a BC/Kelpie cross and he was super intelligent! Show him something twice and he understood it! His mum (Kelpie) was just the same. In fact, she saved her family from certain death by alerting them to a fire in the house. She ran into the bedroom, pulled the duvet off to wake them up, then kept barking and running to the kitchen. Another 10 minutes of so and they would probably have been killed by smoke!

My favourite working dog? Probably a GSD.
