Hi All
Yes another newbie  ,
I'm desparate to get a labrador but our landlord does not allow pets
I'm home all day so ideal for a dog lots of attention and cuddles and oodles of love, how can I persuade my landlord to allow me to have my puppy?

I oppose the selling of all animals via pet shops

I think you posted this in the new section too.
I have replied on there, but I really think that you should not buy a dog, if your landlord has expressed that he does not want dogs or any animal in his property. A labrador is not a small dog, and all young dogs can be destructive.
Your landlord would be well in his rights to evict you if you went in breach of your contract. Then what would happen to the dog?
I have seen this happne before, and the dog had to be taken to a rescue centre, because none of us were in a position to help (we all had geratrics or full canine houses)
In the meantime, why not offer to walk friends dogs? help out at the local rescue centre?

I recomend doing this, its a great way to help out and spend some time with all of the gorgeous dogs out there, its really rewarding too .

Hi

I have to agree with everyone on here, HOWEVER.........i have just got a doggy so i cant really talk!!!!! Shocked

OOooops, i know, i was in the same position as you but didnt bother asking my landlord 1st we just went ahead and bought him! eeek!

Well the way i see it is im at home all day too so he is well looked after and cant get upto mischeif while im watching him.
The landlord has NEVER been to the house to check up and would always ring before he came. Even if he did come round, my argument to my partner was we would just tell him we were looking after him for a relative!!

Naughty i know but i am prepared to loose the bond on the house for him and even if worse came to worse and he evicted us (which i know he wouldnt) we know we would have somewhere to go and stay (mums) until finding somewhere else

However, my pup is a pomeranian (very small toy breed) and are very different to labs including their size!! Rolling Eyes

Anyway just thought id share that with you

The choice would be yours at the end of the day just make sure you dont rush into anything!!!!!!!!!

Instead of going against your landlord, why not look for somewhere that will allow you to have a dog first, they you can get one without worrying.
