Oh i know! my dog has hair rather than fur and the mud is endless. but over the years we've found some good products that help - coats that help are ones with a chest cover that keep the tummy clean and dry, and we've even tried a trouser suit with long legs to cut down on the muddy legs! these are really good as they are waterproof and easy to rinse out. also, we use aquamats - these are microfibre cloths that soak up loads of water and mud and are great for rubbing down and wiping up. you can get the mats and there are loads of coats and trouser suits on www.pressies4dogs.co.uk. good luck!

i've just bought an equafleece for both of mine. they aren't water proof but water resitant. the girls swim in theirs and are dry when we get home. they are also good for keeping dogs warm and dry after a bath. they weren't cheap but well worth it. the girls love their new jumpers as they know they are going out to get mucky the jumpers just go straight in the wash afterwards and are air dryed by the next walk.

I would just like to share - give me rainy, muddy walks any day compared to what my little darling decided to roll in today! We walk in various fields and Finley found the one that had just been muck spread! Oh joy! Well he seemed to think so........... He is black with a white chest - not so today. A lovely shade of khaki greenie brown! Yum! He was sooo proud.....with that Me? What have I done look? Hmmm.............one hose down followed by a doggy shampoo and condition in the shower..........he unfortunately doesn't smell much sweeter. Good job he's booked into groomers on Friday! Whiffy dog til then..........

I have never used coats for my dogs as one has a natural weatherproof double coat and the other is easily dried off. They have to work in the rain anyway so it is best they are used to walking in it. If you want a state of the art model look no further than this! http://www.obtrack.com/

Dogs are made to be "weather proof" How do you think they survived in the wild? That is a small fluffy dog and they may find the weather desturbing. If it is cold and such then you can get it a coat... but I would say it is ok going as it is.
I wouldn't spend the money on a coat until you think it needs it!
Have fun walking in the rain!! LOL Alicia

Difference is dogs in the wild didnt have central heating and then going out into the cold, to contend with. They would have been used to the cold rain snow and what not. Our dogs today are probably no where near as weather resilient. Yes some can cope, but in the case of the smaller dog, and the short coated, they probably do feel the cold
