I aquired my 4th rotty with the hopes of having a few litters,  I have the support of 2 very respected breeder and my rott is of excellent quiality and temperment with very low scoring.

But at present with the current media hype there seems to be not a huge but slightly higher about of puppies around,  my breeder freind has a litter due in 3 weeks and my bitches brother was put to stud 3 weeks ago.
Were montoring the market with these 2 litter to see what demand for pups is and keep checking rotts direct and epupz to she how pups are moving.  I still have not decided to which dog i want her putting,  I like all my choices.

Allso my bitch is not 2 till may which means my pups will not be docked does not affect me but will it others? i don't no.  I'm not in it for the money but i don't want to be left with half a dozen pups that i can't sell,
my main reson for having the pups is to keep 1 maybe 2 for my self for show agility resons.

Now should i wait a year or should i take my chances, spent over an hour discussing this last night with my breeder freind,   and well to be truthfull my head is spinning think about the what if's and buts.

Just caurious to find out how your thought, feelings and what you would do?

Large breeds just dont seem to be selling at the moment, people are having to keep puppies until 12 weeks or older, can you afford to do that? Also with the docking ban coming in a lot of pro dockers (irresponsibly in my opinion) have said they will all try and get a litter in before the ban comes into force so if they do carry out that threat there could be a huge influx of puppies.
Personally I'd wait to see what happens and for everything to settle down. As she's still so young you have time on your side.

Have you read the issues Rottie welfare and rescue are having in the Show Press?  

Many puppies, even litters, are being found there as well as adults.

What are the overwhelming reasons for breeding from your particular bitch?

What qualities does she have that cannot be found elsewhere?

What are her hip and elbow scores like?

I would not breed from my dog until and unless I had several bookings prior to mating.  

No worries TWS i understand that there are loads of doggys in rescues thats why i'm thinking long and hard about it, and smokeybear has some very valid points.  I'm not going to do do this light harted and i'm going to keep intouch with all that have my dogs they will be microchipped pror to selling and all will have to do the good citizen scheme writen into the contract or the dog is returned to me.  I am also prepared to take back,lookafter and rehome any dog that is not getting on/or situations changing in it's new home.

I could just cry as the breed i love and adore, live for, my big teddy bears with there own central heating system to keep me warm are being slanted left right and centre and it's not fair.

IMO i would not  bother. Firstly the bitch is too young to mate so id wait until next year and see how things are then. Also undocked rotties are not evreybodies cup of tea. Why not wait until you have some bookings.

Actually KC rules are a year, I thinmk it is club rules that specify 2 years. Having said that I personally wouldn't mate a bitch under 2 years and I have a small breed.
I think it is wise to wait and see what happens and I can fully sympathise with you over the agility. I'm on a waiting list too.

You did nothing wrong I understood that you'd wait til after her second birthday. I just think it would be best to wait until things have settled down and you see the DDA/Tail docking affect. She's young enough that it doesn't matter if you wait another year.
