There are aggressive Yorkies and there are non aggressive pit bulls.   It is all down to genetics and environmental upbringing.  Each case needs to be judged individually.  But, at the end of the day, it is not the dog's fault.  Human interference is what causes problems from irresponsible ownership and mismanagement.   And the way some people treat dogs for their own benefit rather from the benefit of the dog.

Anyone that owns any type of dog should do their very best to ensure the happiness of that dog and ensure it does not cause any unhappiness to any other dog or dog owner.

Petey was an APBT.  At the time there was a shift in the breeding purpose of these dogs.  Two camps were formed, the show people, and those who wanted to continue with the original purpose of these dogs.  This is not to say that none were used for both.  The AKC refused to recognize a dog bred for bloodsport, and because of the competetive nature of the sport, many breeders refused to make their breeding programs public.  In the eyes of the AKC, they could not be sure the dogs were pure bred without scrutinizing pedigrees.  So, a new breed was founded, The Staffordshire Terrier.  Later that name would be changed when the AKC recognized the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, hence the American Staffordshire Terrier.  Back then, you could register an APBT as an Am Staff with AKC.  That is no longer permitted, however, an AKC Am Staff can be registered as an APBT with the UKC, ADBA, and AADR.  I hope my rambling helped clear that up for someone, lol.

Thank you very much!  I should put up some pics on their of my brother in laws chololate Lab playing with my girls.  They are so nice to her, lol.  She bites the hell out of my dogs, and they never put their teeth on her, just tackle her and throw her around like a rag doll.  But that lab does not give up!  She tires out my dogs!  So much for the high energy APBT, lol.  Of course, if they're among their own kind, it's a much different story.....they do not like any APBT outside their own "pack".  Have to be very careful about that at the shows........
