First of all why has your vet recommended a dog food with less than 10% fat?

Dogs get their energy from fat.

Legally all commercial foods are obliged to list protein, fat, mineral and moisture content.

To enable you to calculate the how much fat there is in the diet you need first to remove the moisture and then divide the amount of fat by the dry matter and multiply by a 100

eg fat = 11% dry matter = 25% x 100

11/25 x 100 = 44% fat.
