My ironing mishap

Last night I was ironing a shirt, sat the iron on the board, and went to give a chew toy to Hovis who was sat in the room too. In this few seconds, the iron fell off the board (HOW?!?!?!), landed plate side down on the carpet, I ran to lift it off, but too late, I now have an iron imprint singed into the carpet. It was only a matter of seconds! If it was in the middle of the room that would be ok, I'd just get a rug and sit it nice and central in the room. No, it's off to one side, plainly visible, but a rug there would look silly.
This is part rant/part question about if there's anythign I can do? It's proper crispy, no amount of scrubbing and brushing will make it otherwise. I can't chop it out and put a new piece in without it looking awful, so last resort is insurance claim i suppose...if i can even do that!!!?
or train the dog to sit on it whenever people come round!!!
AAARGH!

The one and only time we have ever claimed on the household insurance was for exactly the same thing. The lounge carpet was quite new and very expensive so we got it replaced on the insurance and used it (minus the iron mark) for hall, stairs and landing.
I also have an iron mark on one of the bedroom carpets, the one that used to be my daughter's bedroom, she thought she'd just iron something directly on the carpet.

I think animal testing is a terrible idea. They get all nervous and then they give the wrong answers.

it's in a really annoying place, where you kind of have to walk over it to get anywhere...am thinking i'll just have to get used to it.
Funniest thing was, my boyfriend was about to iron the shirt, and I said 'No, I'll do it, you need a relaxing sit down, I'll do this one for you, I insist'. With any luck he won't let me near it again...

That's funny! Glad someone else has done it too - makes me feel less daft!! I might look into the insurance thing and see....only had the policy for 2 months, as we've just moved in...

Have a look at this:

I'm SO glad that there are other people out there who have 'mishaps'! I'm pretty much famous amongst friends and family for being seriously accident prone, which can get a bit tiresome after a while!
Anyway - hope this link helps!

Dogs are truly our most devoted servants, companions and friends. Dogs have lost many of the abilities of their wolf ancestors, but have gained in their place the ability to love
