Would home made liver cake be ok for an 8 1/2 week old puppy?
I have seen some recipes around on the net but none specifically for puppies, if different from the standard recipes what quantities would you use if making it for a puppy?
I have read that you have to go easy when feeding liver to puppies so some clarification would be appreciated.

;d Liver is very laxative therefore no dog of any age should have too much of it!

Thank you for the reply smokeybear...so it would be ok as an occasional training treat then?
You are a raw feeder too right? What would you use as a treat whilst training a pup of Maya's age?
She is already sitting on command, will give paw...sometimes she will fetch and retrieve and drop her toy on command (she only learned that last night and managed it once out of 3 attempts this morning) and i have taught her this by using a game with me and praise as a reward although the training has kind of been one big game too.
Anyway the reason i am rambling is because i want to make it clear that i won't be using treats as a sole training tool, but it would be nice to give her something special once in a while.

I use treats all the time, all sorts of food, verbal and body praise, toys etc depending on the dog and what works.
After all I do not go to work for nothing!
With 7 week old puppies and up I give small bits of cooked meat, liver, fruit and veggies, etc.

Cheers for the advice Smokey it is appreciated.
So far Maya hasn't really shown much interest in any fruit i have offered her, but i know she is a sucker for cooked meats
I will be taking her to puppy class once she has had all her jabs, but it would be nice to have some ground work before she goes.

Same as the liver cake but substitute a couple of cans of sardines for the liver

I make Tuna bread for my dogs and puppies in Puppy School classes - 1 x 185g tin tuna (preferably in oil) 1 whole egg (shell as well if you like) 80g of flour and garlic to taste. Whizz this up with a stick blender, it should be the texture of a soft mousse. Spread on a piece of silicone or baking paper, cooking in the microwave for about 4 mins, when cool, cut into pea sized pieces.
