My dad bought £20 worth of bakers complete puppy food but after hearing alot of bad comments about it I want to know what exactly is up with it and what you would recommend.

Hi

I also bought Bakers Puppy first and then found out on here that it is "the equivalent of feeding a child on crisps and sweets".

I've still got a load left but I bought 15kg of Burns dry puppy food.
I'm giong to donate what I have left to a shelter as I'm sure that any food would be helpful (if I'm wrong, someone please say...)

Yes, so, I have found out that the best food is either Burns or Arden Grange (I think that's what it is called). Simply because it is wholefood - no additives, derivatives etc.

Hope that helps

Well the short answer to your title is YES, Bakers is one of the worst dog foods on the market it is full of
e-numbers, artificial colourings and crap fillers. I feed my dogs on a mixture of NatureDiet and Hills:Natures Best but other high quality foods are Burns, JWB, Arden Grange and Natures Menu. In my opinion feeding your dog bakers is like feeding your child nothing but macdonalds and sweets. Sorry to sound so harsh but it really is as bad as it sounds.

I found the reply RubyT hgave me...

"Bakers will be contributing considerably to the activity levels......I wouldn't wait till the bag is empty I would change her now. That food is full of empty calories high sugar salt and additives...like feeeding your child a constant diet of blue Smarties, Wotsits and coke cola "

Weimaraners do not need food with tons of worthless additives, they need a good quality diet to grow and develop properly.

Naturediet, Burns or James Wellbeloved are easy to source and very good quality.

there are a hundreds of products on the market......

I was feeding my puppy, Bakers complete too

he started to become very hyper after meals and having about 4 or 5 poos a day (really soft and smelly) and he only has 2 meals a day! lol

I now feed him Naturediet wet food and Burns dry food

He since looks loads healthier, not been as hyper and only has 2 poos a day

They do say you get what you pay for................lots of people recommend Burns as it's totally natural.
I personally like Royal canin.I buy a big sack £35 approx but it lasts for ages. :-D

Some people have recommended chappie as being the best out of the cheaper brands.....not sure though as I've never used it.  :-D

Chappie smells terrible  I think i'll ask at the pet shop next time i go. Omega tasty is only about £15 and that lasts ages too. I am now thinking if thats full off cr*p i wonder if that could be turning her into a bit of a bully.

If people will buy it then shops will sell it, the huge majority of petshops dont care about your dogs health, they care about their profit.

It's entirely up to you what you feed your dog...most people can only give adviced based on what their dogs gets.....

you should feed your dog according to the work it does....

My dog is a pet..nothing more, she doesn't work for a living, so doesn't need all the addtitives that Bakers has in it...she used to be on Bakers (not with me) and when i took her on, I changed her to Chappie tins and winalot mixer.... the bakers made her hyperactive, but this is not to say that every dog on Bakers will be hyperactive... Persaonally, I wouldn't feed it, puppies need more nutrition (protein etc) than a fully adult dog, but when pup is full grown then you wean them onto an adult dog food which will keep pup/dog happy and healthy.

Sure shops will sell things that people will spend money on, but that doesn't mean it's good for you, or the dog...

Chappie smells terrible

so does tripe, but tripe is good for putting weight on..... (Not that I would eat either....  :-?)
