hi all,

we've just found out that my partner is going to afganistan in 3 weeks! booohoo  :-(

at the moment lottie is definatly daddys girl. it seems that because im there all week cleaning up after her disaplining her etc. im the bad cop, and he comes home on the week end and gives her treats and play galor and is now good cop.

dont get me wrong she loves me but i go out the window when dad home.

now hes found out he's leaving for 3 months!. im just wondering if theres any suggestions as to how i cope with her pinning for him,
(if she does).i dont want her to forget him, but i dont want her to be sad

Hi im sure she'l be fine... you'l probably be the one who'l will miss him more ;-)....As long as theres someone there to give her love and attention she wont be sad. I really wouldnt worry about it! :P

My cocker has been through the same sort of thing and she was fine. Just put any valuable ornaments away when he gets back. Our dog went nuts.

Definitely. I'll be interested to see how our new dog reacts when my husband goes off to sunny climes again. Our other dog, Holly, lies in our dining room facing the back door from about 4pm every day waiting for him to come home. She still does it when he's away. Habit or hope? I can't tell really but it's sweet.

sweet / heart-breaking!..

the bond between a dog an its owner is so underetemated. :)

My dog was in my mom's office and I called her and I asked to 'speak to my dog'. Just for fun
I said , "Hey soro!" And talked to my mom a bit and wot.
When my mom picked me up that day she said Soro spent 30 minutes looking for me in the office, poor thing XD.

We did that with Holly and she did the same: searched the house. I felt very guilty.

Given the location he's going to, I am guessing that your husband is in the forces? If so, let him know that his and his colleagues efforts ARE appreciated in a big way. I'm sure your dogs will be a great comfort to you whilst he's away.
