I posted a message the other day about my collie cross Kim, who died suddenly a few days ago. since then we have had another shock and our oher dog Rosie has hurt her left leg. She is limping and putting all her weight on the good leg at the moment - the vet says she has a strain/sprain and has pulled the hamstring muscle quite badly and she will be on anti-inflammatory tablets for a week. Does anyone have experience of this type of injury and how long it normally takes to heal? Is there any likelihood of recurrence? We are planning to take her just for little gentle walks on the lead and mainly rest it these next few days. Any advice anyone can offer to help her recovery would be great.
Thanks again
Karen :)

No experience of it in dogs, only in me, and it was bl**dy painful!

It hurt when I woke up as it had stiffened up overnight, hurt in the evening as hobbling round the house put strain on it, hurt if I rested it and hurt if I gently exercised it.

I would simply allow her to rest for a week and hobble around as much or as little as she wants to.

When we first got our rescue boy he was pulling things left right and centre due to the fact that he had been rather neglected and had very little exercise,we had to take it easy with him from time to time but the anti-inflammatories worked very well for him.
