I have just given my three their first RMB meal - we officially now raw!! Well the dogs not me and my family!! LOL! They loved it and took a lot longer eating than normal. Buster looked a bit confused at first but soon got a taste for it and even Mace who is the fussiest buggar in the world, eat his and then went to look in the other dogs bowls to see if there was any food left - I am so please and excited!!

Glad they enjoyed a natural dinner.
Meal times become an event when you feed raw.

Good luck and let us know if you need any advice.

I bet in two weeks time you will be posting to say you cannot believe the difference in their health.

Liked is the understatement - after they had finished they actually turned round to me and went :dancing:

The best part aswell is I spoke with my friends in the pet shop and they are going to get in touch with Landywoods and stock their food - hurray!! It just gets better and better.

It's a great feeling when you feed your dog something and then they come to you all excited, tail wagging once they have finished.

Keep an eye on their poo's tomorrow and do not be to alarmed if it is runny. Sorry, hope you wasn't eating your tea.

Yes I am but it is a chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce & ice cream - would take a lot to put me off that!!!!

Now you see that is *exactly* the kind of food poo talk would put me off! pmsl

I'm glad your dogs like going raw, I hope it continue well for you all :)

I'm all of a quandry - I know Tonks would like raw more, and I'm pretty sure it would suit her coat, health etc. I'm just not sure I can afford it yet. Annoying as I know I need to order my second mammoth sack of Burns soon lol - I'm sure we'll go raw eventually, it's just a matter of when I feel I can!

A question though (if you dont mind me hijacking the thread, sorry), when feeding raw, do you have to stick around to make sure there's no choking etc? Or can you leave your dog to it, bones and all?

I woulden't leave them to it as in go out leaving them with an RMB because I want to be there if they need me but I also don't hover over them.

If you can manage to order in bulk from a supplier like landywoods then it can work out cheaper that kibble.

Whilst they were eating - I cooked dinner so I was in the kitchen with them but not hovering over them. I don't think the mince will take quite so long to eat tomorrow morning though!!!

As for cost - it is actually a lot cheaper to feed raw. The chicken bones they had tonight cost me 50p from the butcher and they will finish it tomorrow - so that is 3 dogs fed for two meals for 50p = you can't get cheaper than that - unless it is free!! I have bought mince from my pet shop at £6 for 12 packs and I will need 2 per meal so that costs me £1. I am going to place a large order with Landywoods but wait until OH gets paid so that he can pay for it!! LOL!!!

Watch them at first, even maybe hand feed them chicken wings as it will increase your confidence if you see them chewing their food.

Like Lara I do not leave my dog at home alone with a RMB, but I also do not fuss over her now when she has one.

I gave them tripe this morning - OMG it stinks - smells like manure!! I was spraying air freshener round the kitchen!!! But hey they loved it - once again Mace checked the other twos bowls after to see if they were empty!! I have never seen him enjoy food like this before - it is absolutely fantastic!!

Glad they enjoyed it, tripe is gross, I wretch as I feed it! What were their poos like this morning?

Absolutely fine - I have never seen Mace's look so good!!! Did I really just type that? Busters was maybe a little hard but not too bad - what can I give him to loosen him up a bit? Might it be worth giving him an egg or some yogurt?

Depends what you mean by hard, you want them to have hard poos, it helps to express their anal glands. If you mean it was too crumbly then just more meat less bone.
